First Flight

Last weekend, Abigail had her first trip on an airplane. My mom and I flew up to Northern California for the day to attend my cousin Jessica's bridal shower and visit with my grandmother. It was definitely an adventure! All I can say is kudos to those of you who fly alone with your babies... I don't know how you do it! It was hard enough even though I had my mom with me to help. The worst part for sure was the way Abby screamed like she had had a shot for 25 minutes while the plane descended into Oakland... pretty brutal! Apparently, the descent was particularly bad during that flight as the flight attendants said that their ears hurt more than normal... add to that the fact that Abigail had a cold (and now an ear infection) so the poor thing's ears must have been in a ton of pain. Sorry Abby!!!!! Thankfully, the trip home was much smoother and she slept in my arms the whole way. Whew! Thank you Lord!

The shower was also a great opportunity for my grandmother and my aunt to spend some time with Abigail. Here's my aunt and my mom... both proud of this little girl.



There were two other little babies at the shower... one was 4 weeks old and the other was 6 weeks old. It was amazing how big Abigail looked next to them! It was also fun to share new mother experiences with these two other young moms.

Nursery Update

When I posted the original pics of Abigail's room, I noted that we had ordered some hand-crafted letters from ETSY that spelled out her name to go above her crib. Many of you know how excited I was about those letters...Well, we ordered them at the end of August and it is now March and they haven't arrived. Oh, and the vendor cashed our check in October and hasn't responded to a single email since. Awesome. After several attempts to contact her through ETSY with no response, I finally went to file a complaint. Apparently, she had a death in the family in October and since then, has either delivered items extremely late or not at all, from what I can tell from other people's comments. Now, however, the vendor has been removed from ETSY and I officially have no way to contact her or attempt to get my money back. SO FRUSTRATING! By February, I pretty much gave up hope that I will ever a) get the letters I ordered and b) get my almost 100 bucks back. So, David and I went ahead and ordered something new a few weeks ago... a vinyl decal with Abigail's initial and name. It was much cheaper, and thankfully, it came in only a week! Yay! It is now on the wall above the crib and I love the way it turned out! Not that I wouldn't want to have my money back, but I think this looks better than the letters I initially ordered anyway. So... here it is:


With some pictures hung over her changing table (we did this 2 months ago), her room is finally complete!




Another new addition: the Bumbo! (We've had it for awhile, but we just started using it this week.) So far, she loves it (even though her face doesn't quite show it)!
