Palm Desert

We celebrated the end of David's school year last week by heading out to Palm Desert with my family to enjoy my parents' timeshare villa at the JW Marriot. We had a beautiful view of the palm trees and mountains from our living room area and balcony... too bad I didn't take a picture! However, since it was soooo hot (115 degrees!) we didn't venture outside too much with Abigail. The boys braved the heat to golf a few days while my mom and I meandered around the air-conditioned mall and walked around the lobby of the hotel (they have several cages of exotic birds which Abigail found quite intriguing... again no picture... sorry!) At least the heat meant that we could finally put Abby in some of her summer clothes...

Abigail didn't sleep well most of the nights and, as a result, she and I both came down with a cold :( Nevertheless, we enjoyed some fun family time and indulged in a few too many ice-cream treats throughout the week (those Magnum Ice Cream bars are just too good)!

Also, Tara Klein took some awesome pics of Abby for me last week to capture some of Abby's cute baby body... here are a couple that don't show too much...

6 Months!

We can't believe this girl is 6 months old! Where has the time gone? We are loving this stage as she is so much fun to interact with (and not yet mobile)! At her six month appointment, she weighed in at 17 lbs. 12 oz and measured 25 1/2 inches long. The doctor commented that I have an especially active baby and that I shouldn't take my eyes off of her for a second... I'll really be in trouble once she starts crawling!
She loves this Teddy Bear and I caught a funny series of shots with the two of them...

"Yay! I'm so excited to see you!"

"Take this"

"Hi-Yah! Body Slam"

"Tackle!"

Abigail has been moving around her crib like it's a jungle gym and has recently become a side/ stomach sleeper. This is how she settled into sleep the other night:
We love this kid and can't believe she's halfway to one!

Solids and a Wedding

On Memorial Day weekend, we ventured into the world of solid food with Abigail. Both of our parents had come over for a BBQ, so we thought it would be a fun time to conduct her first feeding. It was a success (although she was so distracted by the many faces and encouraging words and cheers from her grandparents, that it took quite a long time to feed her)! Here is the evidence:

"I'll take that spoon, please"

" I'm not so sure about this stuff mom..."

"No Mom, not more rice cereal... I'd rather eat my bib!"

"These sweet potatoes taste much better thank you!"

"Hand over the sweet potatoes and no one gets hurt!"

This new world of food has me on my toes. I just hope she likes her veggies!

This past weekend, we traveled to Northern California for my cousin Jessica's wedding. They got married in the Walnut orchard next door to my aunt and uncle's house. It rained all day and then the sun came out about an hour before the ceremony! It was muddy, but it was beautiful.
