Independence Day + 5th Anniversary

We've been enjoying having David home during the week now that summer is well under way. It's been especially nice for me to have another helping hand with Abigail... David has graciously risen early with her many mornings to allow me to get a little more sleep (since Abby is not sleeping through the night yet and is quite an early riser, 5:30-6:30am, and we are not). On the 4th, we headed to the park to check out the festivities with Abigail.


After a relaxing day at home and at the park, we had some friends over to celebrate the 4th and continue the Smarts' tradition of viewing fireworks from the balcony (although no one climbed on the roof this year). The show was great, although quite loud, and we couldn't believe the two girls (Abigail and Kylie) actually slept through the fireworks! (Thank you, Lord!) Too bad we didn't get a good group picture!

To celebrate our 5th Anniversary, David and I headed down to Dana Point for a night away while my parents babysat Abigail. We visited the Blue Lantern Inn, the bed-and-breakfast where we spent the first two nights of our honeymoon. We had a wonderful time which included a beautiful bike ride, a fabulous dinner, and gorgeous walk in a nature preserve overlooking the ocean.
